In The Name Of Jesus Book Analysis - Free Essay Example
In The Name of Jesus is a book written by a famous author, Henri J. M. Nouwen. He had a distinguished career as an academic and as a writer also. In his writing, He shares his life as a priest with the mental handicapped people of LArche Community. In this book, the author gives a strong leadership vision for the present and future. This book is written based on the authors own experience. The details are continuous with the author himself. He looks at his own life and reflects on the challenges and solutions faced by todays church leaders. Among them, the perception of how to lead, and bring the reader back to the scripture study and emulate Jesus the life and character of Jesus Christ himself. This book is ideal for all Christians because it has great resources especially in shaping the spirituality for the Christian itself and Christian leaders. In this book the authors wrote according to the Reflection on Chistian Leadership. With that, the author draws direction to thinking about Christian leadership in the future by examining two examples of stories from the gospels: The story of Jesus temptation in the dessert (Matthew 4: 1-11) and the story of Peters call to be a shepherd (John 21: 15-19). I chose this book to see the extent of my Christian Spirituality growing. Although, it is quite difficult for me to understand but I can see that the selection of this book is suitable for me as it helps me prepare myself for the future church leaders. From my reading i found that, this book is ideal and its strength is at the real message this is being spelled out. This book has its very own identity in which the writer scribbled at the issues and temptations the church leaders nowadays pass through. Church leaders do no longer run far from temptations because Jesus himself has been tempted. but Jesus turned into able to maintain his personal identification but the churchs leaders had been very vulnerable to making wrong consideration. we are all tempted to be applicable, but Nouwen is satisfied that this temptation rob us of the vulnerability that makes us open to giving and receiving love no matter our achievements. We need to ask ourself, do we really love Jesus? To know Him we need to love him also, find his heart and obey him. To be rooted in Gods love, we are called upon to communicate with God through prayer. The contemplative prayer discipline leads us to live in the presence of Jesus who loves us unconditionally. The pursuit of the suitability and popularity are common illnesses for peoples that lead in the this modern world. The desires to achieve, make a distinction, contribute, competent and succeed is the things that we find our value and if one cannot compete then ones value will decrease. according to Nouwen theres the struggling that underlies our glittering success and this is in which Christian leaders are needed, but we will most effective illuminate the light of Jesus into such a area by heading off the desires for our own gain. cultivate communities, require mutual recognition and forgiveness discipline may be very critical. Jesus first question to Peter Do you love me? theref ore, our goal is not to consider everything and to set it, however to searching for unity spirit with God in prayer. Jesus also directs him to take care and feed his sheep. He wants Peter to feed His sheep and take care of them not as a proffesional but as a vilnerable brothers and sisters who recognize and supplement one another when Jesus speaks approximately shepherding, he makes it clear that ministry is a communal and mutual experience. We all are tempted to become strong and maintain the control. Good leadership includes the first lead by God and the second in intimate relationships with others. The vision of Jesus maturity included the willingness to be brought to an unknown place where we would rather not go. The manner of the Christian Leaders is not the manner of movement as much as in which our international has invested so much, but the manner of the downward motion ends on the cross. The willingness to guide the spiritual poverty attitude is planted with the discipline of theological reflection. Theologians involve Gods heart through prayer, study, and careful analysis applying the divine event of Gods saving work in the midst of many randomly visible events of their time . Christian management is theological leadership. A Christian leader is referred to as to listen that voice and so be comforted and consoled. Because I did not know about Henri Nouwen before reading this book, I am a bit fuzzy about what he means in some of what he has wrote. For example. my success was putting my own soul in danger. im also not sure certain of why the advice is directed specially to Christian leaders, however with leadership it brought something broader than im. Most of his perspectives applied to each of the disciple of Christ. similarly, this is a helpful book to gain a perspective in what is supposed for following Christ and living by using the power of his name. however, there is maturity inside the simplicity that get my attention. He emphasizes the Christian existence that does not make the energy to play or regard greater important to the body than any other component. He challenges readers who are educated to live together and be brothers with Gods people, choosing to share life and ministry of recognition or what is taken into consideration world success. He truly challenged the idea that ideals have a place within the lives of believers or Christian leaders. Nouwen says that not sufficient for Christian leaders to be morally upright, directing, guiding and forming morals, as an alternative, we should be folks who live before God and who live from that presence. moral prayer offers us that presence. Christian leadership must have basis and nothing less than a relationship with Jesus. After reading and reflection, I find this book reminds me that as the leader we cannot be arrogant because temptations always follow leaders. From this book I see that if i am sensitive and usually emphasize the importance of God in my ministry, this practice will bring me back to Jesus no matter how difficult the temptations, situations I am facing with. The content of this book helps me to reflect and consciousness on the truth that God has called me to lead, and I believe He always anoints and leads His servant no matter where it is. In addition, this book takes me further into my ministry over the years and I see it helps me to develop my Christian spirituality. Spiritual value is important to see where the stage and self development are in a responsible position. The balance of spiritual development is very important as a tool to measure the process by which God causes growth and transformation to take place in our lives. From this book I see the continuity of its content with my Christian Spirituality which encompasses the entirety of my Christian life.
